Your Nose Really Does Know!
By Vladi Bergman

Nose

Have you ever realized just how powerful the nose is? If you’ve been feeling lazy and sluggish lately, personally or professionally, the first thing you may try is change your diet or sleeping habits. Or you start a regimen of vitamins and many people will go see their doctor.

While we don’t discount any of those things, and would never recommend to NOT do them, we also have found that another tool to use is aromatherapy.

It certainly wouldn’t be the first thing you think to boost your energy and productivity, much less help you professionally, but it may be worth trying!

Your Nose Is The Strongest Part Of Your Body!

The strongest of our five senses is smell and it has more influence over our brain activity than any of the other four.

The brain processes emotions and enables our ability to learn by way of the limbic system with help of the olfactory bulbs. Thus, the reason why we associate smells with things we learn or somebody we meet.

The biggest trend going now in self-care is the use of essential oils. They offer anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties, which is why they can be one of the best things to have in the workplace.

When you think about the number of people that you encounter at work, the environment is prone for creating health issues from the bacteria and germs.

Studies have shown that a workplace that has implemented the use of essential oils has seen a decrease in employee sick time and improved job performance.

By filling diffusers with essential oils around the workplace, the hypothalamus is activated by the employees.

This is the area where the brain sends messages out to the rest of the body. Several changes take place within the body such as lowering the blood pressure, the immune system is activated and the digestive system is stimulated.

For the workplace that aromas and odors may offend some, you can simply have some cotton balls in your desk and put one or two drops of oil on one and inhale it.  Get your energy boosted and kick that productivity in gear.
