Ginseng: The Magical Herb – Or Is It A Root?

Ginseng is most like the most popular of all the herbs or roots. Even for the person that insists upon staying within the ‘traditional’ medicine practices, i.e. countless doctor appointments and prescriptions, they will mention the word ginseng in a conversation.

When we’re talking about superfoods, ginseng is among the popular vernacular.  But there is a good chance that those who talk about really don’t have a clear understanding on what this magical herb or root can do.

Ginseng Has Many Organisms

One of the things that most people aren’t aware of is that ginseng is a collection of several shrubs from around the world. These shrubs are labeled as ginseng if they have exhibited an effect on the health of humans. And within those collections, there are various ones still.

The original reference to ginseng was Panax Ginseng, a family of plants. It is also known as American Ginseng or Red Ginseng, each of them proving to have remarkable benefits. Because this herb/root is so popular, ginseng became an easy label.

What Can You Expect from Ginseng?

The ginseng herb/root has been found to have various degrees to human’s health, among those things are improvements in the following areas:

·         Physical Performance

·         Sexual Performance

·         Adaption to Metabolic Stress

·         Cognitive Functions

·         Memory

·         Cellular Health

What we need to realize is that every form of this herb/root will not provide the same benefits for everyone. There is still doubt about it providing these benefits, as it has been scientifically proven on every level.

Types of Ginseng

So now that you know what health benefits ginseng can provide and that there are different types of it, let’s look at the 5 major types:
