Decorating the home is a matter of one’s personal choice. We choose items that represent our dreams, hobbies, and interests. Those who come to our homes may acknowledge the items we have around our home. But, they may not know and understand the true meaning of the items we have chosen.

Symbols and Their Meanings
The Anchor
From Christians to sailors, this popular symbol is one of stability and strength. When we can lower our anchor, it represents that we have come to the end of a long journey.
The Buddha
The Buddha has been around for as long as man-kind. They symbol is presented in a variety of ways, such as a single Buddha in a variety of positions. It is known as “the enlightened one” and a grouping of three is known as “the three wide Buddhas”. They symbolize good karma, great luck and inner silence. The belief is that when you place a Buddha statue in your surroundings, it creates a calm, peaceful, and spiritual atmosphere.
The Cross
A cross has always had an association to religion, beginning with the Christians. The cross was how they recalled the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It was a reminder of the redeeming from Christ’s death and his passion before he died.
Today, this symbolizes protection and safety and is given upon one as a spiritual gift to be hung in their home. A handmade cross made from holy water and soil from Jerusalem make a beautiful, wonderful gift that regardless of one’s faith they will appreciate the thought behind it.
The Skull
The skull has long been associated with death, evil, and pirates. For others though, the skull can mean very different things such as guidance, fearlessness, power, protection, strength, and wisdom. The skull can be a symbol of overcoming death and survival of a difficult time. In some circles, the skull is a symbol of immortality. The Elephant

Turtles symbolize longevity and protection in many cultures. In others, they believe the turtle is carries the world on its back and symbolizes divinity.
